Step Out of Your Comfort Zone Lately?

Last night, I attended a launch for Joe Heilman’s new book SOCIAL MEDIA FOR BUSINESS. Like me, Joe is a past president of the Pacific Club (, which is a non-profit speakers group attended mostly by young professionals. I met a couple of familiar faces, like Frances Hui, who practically knows everyone that matters in Vancouver and hosts lots of fabulous parties thru her company, FHS Events ( And finally, there was Ryan Corpuz, a financial planner from Sun Life and a member of BNI Harbourside, a business networking group that I was a part of for 5 years.

The interesting component of the evening was the speed networking (courtesy of Ronald Lee of For those of you who have to network but don’t feel comfortable doing this, take a look at Devora Zack’s “Networking for People Who Hate Networking: A Field Guide for Introverts, the Overwhelmed, and the Underconnected”.
